Squirrely sadness

I was coming home from work, and there's a squirrel on the road. So I stop my car and the little guy starts to walk across the rest of the way, then suddenly this big bird thingy flys down and attacks the squirrel!
At first I was amazed that got to witness such an event. Then I thought of how I already tried to save the squirrels life once, and it obviously back fired. I beeped my horn and the bird flew away and landed on some nearby powerlines, the squirrel ran up a tree.
Now I feel bad, because the bird will probably starve to death, and the squirrel may have sustained injuries which could result in a slow painful death.
