Before I'd taken any classes with him I'd heard that Dr. Chan was a very difficult professor. He ended up being the greatest.  Not only an excellent knowledge dispenser, but full of wit and quite the character. The lecture would be going along quite rigidly, then out of nowhere he'd say the funniest thing. I actually started writing down "Chan-isms" in my notebook, but I'm not sure if the non-nerd population would understand them...plus I'd need to dig out the notebook.

One semester he wore the same shirt and pants to class everyday.  Both sad, and amazing. It takes a lot of guts to wear the same clothes everyday, not to mention white ones that never had a single speck of dirt on them. I don't know why he did it, maybe his clothes got stolen, maybe he was trying to make a statement.. but I respected him even more for it either way.
