DOES NOT COMPUTE
Mar. 28th, 2007
<NERDINESS>Ohhh... kay.. so.. the fan got here today, but then I realized I couldn't use it because my motherboard lacks holes that it required. But I thought to myself: Well gosh.. it can't be the fan anyway, it just can't. It spins fine, the heatsink is completely cold, the computer has been off for a day, and it still won't boot for even a couple seconds, won't even load the bios. It's the board or the processor or something.
I gave up. I went through several stages of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining.. depression.. acceptance. It was dead.
I don't know why, I unplugged the hard drives, and turned it on and walked away. 10 minutes later, the bios suddenly popped up on the screen. Zuh?
I popped in an Ubuntu live CD, rebooted and it ran with out hiccuping for a few hours. Took a bath, came back, still running. Dubya Tee Eff? Plug the hard drives back in, BIOS pops up instantly, loads up the OS fine.. an hour later, I'm still here, it's still going. I was able to make my image and post this leisurely with no rush... </NERDINESS>
<PLAIN LANGUAGE PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND>
IT'S BACK FROM THE DEAD FOLKS, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES
</PLAIN LANGUAGE PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND>
..and guess what? I wish the dang thing would freeze up so I could stop kicking myself for spending a few hundred bucks that was meant for food on basically a new system while I thought the thing was dead. FUCK.
